Remove Rockbox & all, format DAP, put Rockbox back

(1/1)

Job Van Dam:
I haven't updated my Rockbox for almost a year so there have been many changes, I've kept up with them on my PC but haven't actually updated my Gigabeat F20.

I was just wondering could I put all the contents of my DAP onto a separate harddrive, fully format the DAP and then just add all the contents back, one folder at a time, and everything should fly properly?

I'm just thinking this method would be better than just a defrag. Thank you.

saratoga:
You could do that, but it would be pointless (as would defraging an MP3 player).

Just install an updated build as normal.

Defrag isn't ALWAYS pointless - a low capacity player that had been used for mpgs for instance might benefit.

Llorean:
There aren't many low-capacity non-flash players. Defragging a flash-based player is one of the worst things you can really do to it.
