How to start over with e280

I guess its been a while, but I recently uninstalled RockBox and reinstalled the current version....r2 1223 i believe...and I was just wondering if there are any ways to speed up the song selection process.  It seems to be a little laggy when skipping songs.  Is there stuff that I can delete or get rid of that I dont need.....ie games, themes, ect....

Also does the theme have a lot to do with system preformance?  By this I mean are there certain themes that allow the systerm to run smoother/faster (Probably simpler ones with fewer graphics.)?
