iPod Video 30GB 5.5g not charging in usb mode [SOLVED]

<< < (4/5) > >>

Crend King:
Sorry, I don't think this is a solved problem. Here is my phenomenon: I install the latest "Current Build" via the "Rockbox Utility". It seems that the Rockbox USB mode still charges the iPod, but extremely slow and inefficient, comparing to the native Disk Mode (hold SELECT and PLAY while booting). It takes maybe 3 to 4 times more than the native Disk Mode to fully charge. Furthermore, if I try to copy big files to the iPod in the Rockbox USB mode when it has very low power, it is usually forced to turn off because of "Very low power": the power needed for disk spin and file copying is more than charging!

There is no such problems if I use the native Disk Mode. From my observation, the problem of the USB mode is, it charges, but slow and inefficient.

Did you read the whole thread? This behaviour is fully explained

Crend King:
Sorry. I know it is a pending problem, and not enabled in stable releases. I wonder if there is a way to disable the USB mode in SVN build? If yes, can I turn it off in configuration files or re-build from source file? Thanks!

You could edit the config file for your specific target and recompile (see the portalplayer USB wiki page).

However an even easier solution would be to just not use it.

I have problems with my ipod Video which could be caused by the new usb stack.

In order to test that, I would like to disable the new usb stack in the svn version. How can I do that? In the portalplayer USB wiki I did not find how to disable the usb stack.
