Gigabeat USB (1.1) master function

Does anybody know if the details of this interface are known?  The F series has two USB interfaces, there is one buried in the doc that is a USB 1.1 MASTER, used by the OF to download photos from cameras.  Was thinking about maybe adding a USB serial driver there to maybe communicate with a remote control via the dock.  Might be able to add an iPod like interface to navigate menus and output metadata.  I realize that the code space might be tight so this might not be workable, just thinking out loud here......
It would be cool to build an iHome like gizmo for my F10 running Rockbox.
