Playing the IPod in the car - using "IPod adapter"

Hi,

First of all, installed Rockbox yesterday - fantastic bit of software. Its good to see proper interfaces available for the IPod.

I have 1 issue though.
My 80GB Gen5 IPod doesn't like talking to my IPod adapter in the car.
The car is a Volkswagen 2007 model with the standard Radio in it. It was factory fitted with the IPod adapter.

Basically, whats happening is that when I plug the IPod into the Ipod cable in the car, and turn the radio on, select "EXT CD6" (which is where the IPod lives), the car radio plays the IPod channel for about 5 seconds before it switches back to the FM radio.. It complains about 'no IPod being attached'..
Before I installed Rockbox on the IPod, the car radio would only switch back to the FM Radio when the IPod was unplugged during playback.

It would appear that the Car radio and the IPod 'talk' to each other during playback. and if the radio doesn't 'hear' back from the IPod within a certain perion of time it assumes that there is no ipod attached and therefore will switch back to the last mode, in this case the FM radio. With Rockbox installed, it would appear that the IPod does not respond to the radio.

I have gone through the Rockbox config options and set the car adapter feature to 'yes'

Has anyone seen this sort of thing before ? and more importantly, does anyone know of a fix ?

Thanks

Which revision of Rockbox are you using? If a current build (not 3.1, but actually current SVN) doesn't communicate properly with your adapter, your only two choices are to do some coding to figure out what's not implemented yet, or use the original firmware in the car.

soap:
Turn accessory power on.
Try other baud rates than "Auto".

Thanks for your replies.

Llorean - the current version I'm using, as displayed on the 'version' page, is r19569-081223. I'm not sure what you mean by 'using the original firmware in the car'.. From what I understand about the IPod adapter in the car, there is not much firmware for me to change in the car radio... I mean, I haven't changed anything on the car, just the IPod..

soap - I have tried turning accessory power on.. no difference.. Also, when you say change the baud rate, you referring to changing it somewhere in the code or is it a menu option ? Reason I ask, the last time I tried to change the code on anything, It never worked again  :D..

Llorean:
You're using the 3.1 release. Try using a current build. And by the "original firmware" I mean "try being in the Apple firmware on your iPod while using it in the car."
