e250 - Have to initialize database and reboot.
(1/1)
iguru42:
Just installed RB and everything is working great except for the database. The only way I can get it to update is to do an initialize and reboot. Not that big of a deal but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.
After adding or removing music should the database automatically update itself? Is there a log someplace I could check to see what the problem might be?
Llorean:
Have you read the manual regarding the "Update Now" and auto update options?
iguru42:
I hadn't bothered to read it, so I just went and did. While I'm familiar with the concept of RTFM on this particular question I'm not sure how reading that section helped me understand that Update Now doesn't do what it is supposed to do.
Llorean:
You never mentioned having used "Update Now", so I couldn't possibly know you'd even tried it yet.
What exactly have you done, and what exactly happens?
iguru42:
Now I'm glad you asked me about reading that. I completely misunderstood how auto update was supposed to work, and it is working correctly.
Change files, reboot, database updates, no need to initialize.
When I click on Update Now it says "Updating in the background."
So I would assume that if I leave it alone for a few minutes (there are only 3 directories with mp3s totaling about 1Gig) that the database would update. But it doesn't
But hey, I'm moving forward, I don't have to keep initializing the database!
