Superb, brillant...

Forgive me if this is old news and I should have known about it but couldn't see anything after doing a forum search

As someone who has tried Rockbox many times but ultimately kept ditching it because of battery life, I installed a new build on Friday (newer than the 3.1 release) and ran it from full to flat and recorded the data using the battery bench. I did a complete drain back in August using Apple firmware and all my music files were 128kbps AAC and it ran for 14hrs, 45 mins. Having converted all my files to 128kbps mp3 because the mp3 encoder is more efficient I ran a similar test on Friday and Saturday and my battery drained completely from full in 15hrs 55 mins.

Not sure what the main factor of this is; I notice you can now switch off the LCD completely so that's going to help, plus you have improved the efficiency of the mp3 encoder with the release of 3.1. I also wonder if there are any other tweaks that could increase the total play time further.

I am so chuffed that I can finally ditch iTunes and just drag and drop all my music over like I used to with my Iriver. It has been a long wait for battery battery life on the iPod using Rockbox but now it's here it's definitely been worth it. Thankyou for all your continued work and research making it such a good system over what was there originally.

PS Can I just add, I am using build r20254 and when I come to eject my player the USB connected screen stays on display after ejecting (the build I installed first of all went back to the main menu). I presume it's OK to just take the lead out after ejecting, otherwise my player would still be connected.
