Bookmark iPod Video when using Database
« on: August 22, 2008, 12:52:43 AM »
I can't seem to get bookmarks in connection with Database entries.  Is this supposed to work?
I'm running an iPod video 30g on r18325-080820.

I found something on the issue tracker: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5072 that implies it used to work or should work, but was hoping someone could confirm.

Please feel free to direct me to other posts if this has been answered already.

Thanks,

-b

its a known bug and will hopefully be fixed after 3.0 (I'm reworking bookmarks atm)

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I just installed RockBox on my Sansa (v3.1) and this doesn't seem to have been fixed.  That is, if I play a track off of the database, I can't create bookmarks.  I can only do so if I play tracks off of files.  This is especially problematic with podcasts, which have arcane filenames and really rely on the id3 tags to be navigable at all.

Anyone manage to work around this issue in a reasonable way, short of renaming all files heading into the Sansa?

It'll almost certainly be in the major changes list when bookmarks become available for the database.

Is there any incentive I can provide to get it going quicker?   ;)

time... and get US customs to release my shipment with my desktop would always help :p

I think the patch stalled because of technical problems which I cant remember now

If you need/want a beta tester for this particular issue, let me know.  I'm not afraid to lose my data or anything like that; my player's only a 4 gig device and I use it for audiobooks and podcasts, which are easy to copy back.
