I'm trying to play an AC3 file on Rockbox on my H140, but it causes it to freeze. I'm using Rockbox 3.1 for this. I did some testing using the Rockbox simulator for the
most recent 3.1 build (r20223, Mar 06, 2009),
version 3.0.1, as well as the
3.1 release version. Version 3.1 and the current build cause an error in the simulator, responding with:
"The application or DLL P:\Rockbox Simulator\simdisk\_temp_codec0.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
However, the version 3.0.1 build works just fine.
The AC3 file was ripped from a DVD as a single 290MB file using SmartRipper 2.41. Other AC3 files from the same DVD compilation were ripped in the same manner and play perfectly on all Rockbox builds; only this file seems to cause problems.
To further experiment, I grabbed the simulator Rockbox 3.1 and 3.0.1 builds for the iPod 4G grayscale edition, and tried the AC3 file with them. They behaved in the same manner for each respective Rockbox build. So it appears this is a codec issue.
I can provide a copy of this AC3 file to developers if they want it. It's 290MB however.
Thanks.
