Rockbox build to run direct on PC

(1/2) > >>

tgrid:
I would love to see a version of Rockbox that runs directly on the PC.  I really like the Rockbox interface and I would like something simple like that to control my home stereo system that is connected to my PC.  Perhaps this is what the person who was talking about a Winamp type application was getting at.

This could be either done by a direct build native to PC or via an emulation of one of the current supported devices which is then loaded on the emulator.   I am looking for something bundled and ready to  go.  Don't want to have to be a code developer to do it.  I would prefer the first.  Any thoughts?
Thanks
Tom

LambdaCalculus:
Download a precompiled Rockbox simulator from here, or compile one from source.

And that's Rockbox on your PC.

Hmmmm, interesting idea. But those are all for Windows. I assume I'd have to compile myself if I want it to run on Linux. Or is that not easy/possible?

LambdaCalculus:
It's easy to build a sim for your OS. Simple follow the instructions on the LinuxSimpleGuideToCompiling wiki page. Just select to build a sim instead of a normal build, and your sim will compile and be ready to run.

Thanks. I'll have to give it a whirl.... Just because I can.
