view track length in file view
« on: March 04, 2009, 10:35:27 PM »
I thought it would be nice to see track duration displayed while browsing files when 'music' only is selected in the 'show files' submenu. It might be a further option in that submenu and displayed in a right-side alignment. Is it possible/desirable?

It would require opening every single file, rather than just using the FAT. This would probably be a lot slower while browsing, and not good for battery life either.

Ahh ok. Is reading metadata essentially the same as opening a file, in computer terms? I was thinking if the database was initialized, the relevant track info would be 'to hand' for the browser to use (or not). I didn't think it through. Thanks for replyin'

EDIT: Is there no way to use the data gathered by the system once the Database is initialized, and display (just a part of) it in the file viewer? The table provided in the manual suggests to me that the information is pulled from the 'system' but what does that mean?
