Sansa E2x0 Replacement Battery?

(1/2) > >>

hirschma:
My refurb E280's battery totally went belly-up, and it seems that replacements are somewhat hard to find (I finally got a cheapo Chinese clone battery after three tries). I'm told that Sandisk no longer supplies the original.

Problem is that I get about half of the battery life that I'd expect (about 6-7 hours). The new battery is only 650mAh/3.5v, vs. the original which was 750/3.7.

Anyone know of a good source that has direct replacements in stock?

herefornow:
Bought mine off of Ebay. Has kept its charge as long as the original.

You wouldn't have a link to the auction or seller, would you? I have a feeling that not all eBay sellers are offering the same quality.

solrize:
I haven't tried it but based on measurements I think with some soldering/rewiring, you might be able to get a Nokia BL-4B cell phone battery in there.  The Sandisk battery is 36.0 x 47.9 x 4.7mm.

Actually, googling "e280 battery" finds tons of places selling replacements (mostly lower capacity than the original, but those specs are probably all bogus anyway).

bwaslo:
Try running the battery all the way down and then recharging a few times.  Sometimes capacity will build up on a new batt the first few charges (or maybe it's the battery charge meter gets more accurate after doing this).
