Creating a Smart Playlist in Rockbox?
(1/1)
woyciesjes:
Here's the background: In iTunes, I created a Smart Playlist that contains only songs of the Rock genre, and that have a play count under 3. It automatically updates itself, even when one of those tracks gets played on the iPod, disconnected from iTunes.
I'm trying to find a way to duplicate this in Rockbox. Rhythmbox does have a Smart Playlist function which seems like it will do what I want, but does anyone know if the Smart Playlist created in Rhythmbox can be transferred to Rockbox, and continue automatically updating itself?
And yes, I'm still looking my self for answers. A detailed guide to Playlist creation would be handy. :)

i can help you with that. here
To collect the "times played data" you have to enable "Gather Runtime Data" under "Database<-General Settings<-Settings". To play music of a specific genre, you simply select that genre in the database. But how you play files that have a playcount under 3 is not possible i think, you can select "never played" though (equals playcount=0). You can export changes to your database by selecting "Export Modifications" under "Database<-General Settings<-Settings"

Thanks... I'll give it a whirl. I'm wondering if the Smart Playlist I create in Rhythmbox/Amarok/Banshee/whatever can be "copied'/sync'd to Rockbox? Then update that list whenever I sync it again?

You can check http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/UsefulTools for ideas (probably Playlist Tools > Amok, since it also can be used for just playlist converting)
