Clarification - can I use external control gizmos when I have Rockbox on my iPod
uOpt:
A first test says no, but can somebody confirm?
When I have Rockbox on my iPod (80 GB video), then I cannot control it with all these little docking port gizmos have have external play/pause/forward buttons, right?
I tested with my wife's alarm clock that has buttons and they don't work.
What I would need is a decent solution to control the sucker in the car. The scrollwheel drives me nuts and there are too many problems when there water or snow or when I have gloves on. Any solutions for this?
What would be involved in making the serial port control in the docking port work?

Any follow up questions I'll be happy to answer.

Thanks, that answers the question.
Do you have an overview about where it's blocked? Do we lack documentation to program the serial port? Do we lack documentation about the protocol?
What do you recommend for a 40+ GB player with Jogdial and Rockbox? :)

I must not have been clear. I was trying to point out accessory support is a work in progress and there is a procedure and place for helping the developers make your accessories work.
If you strike up a conversation with rpress - and report the requested debug strings there is a good chance we can get your accessory working.

Also, add details about your iPod & the perticular accessories that don't work here:

Just curious, have you tried the current version? Apparently Stable v3.1 doesn't have the iPod Accessory Protocol in it....
