Using the car adapter feature on a Sansa c240
« on: February 27, 2009, 07:34:46 PM »
I have a sansa c240 with rockbox 3.1. What i'd like to be able to do is have the player turn on when i turn the key on in my car while it's connected to the usb charger. The problem is whenever it receives power from the charging cable while turned off it boots into the original firmware instead of rockbox! >:( I wonder why it's doing this? Is this a limitation of rockbox or is it the player i'm using or the charger? Any ideas on how to make it work if it's possible? ???

I would suspect the charger. My c250 works well using Car Adapter mode (with r20107).

This is a function of the Rockbox bootloader you have installed.
New bootloaders are being tested for the Sansas now that we have no more need of the original firmware for anything (yay USB!).
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9955 is the Flyspray entry, and the C240 needs tested!

For Windows:

Download sansapatcher.exe from http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/sandisk-sansa/sansapatcher/win32/sansapatcher.exe
Download the new bootloader (see Soap's link above to the Flyspray task)
While logged in with an administrator account run sansapatcher:

For a c250:
Code: [Select]
C:\c200>sansapatcher -a firmware.mi4
sansapatcher v0.7 with v5.0 bootloaders - (C) Dave Chapman 2006-2007
