Hi:

  It's hit and miss with etailers buying refurbished Sansa C200 series, some are version one and some are version two. If you're fishing on Ebay or Craigslist, then you might insert the instructions below. When asking sellers to check if it was firmware version one, 1.0.xxxx or version 2, 3.0.xxxx, I got no responses but giving them step-by-step instructions did the trick:

*Press the Menu Button to turn the unit on

*Headphones and Music will appear on the screen

*Press the Up bar to get to Settings

*Then Press the silver middle button to select settings

*Press the bottom bar to scroll down to System Info

*Press the silver middle button to select system info

*To the side of Version: If it says V01 followed by any numbers it is version one and I will buy it.

*If it says V03 followed by any numbers then it is version two and I'm not interested.

*Press the right bar twice to get back to the Settings screen

*Press the down bar to return to the Music, Main screen

You're back where you started and can turn the unit off or listen to music
