Sansa e200 V1 USB
« on: February 26, 2009, 12:17:44 AM »
I just updated my Sansa E250 to the latest RB and plugged in the USB while RB was running.  Normally it would reboot into OF or hang.  Now I get a picture of a USB connector and it seems fully functional!  WOW!  Thanks.  Is it safe to use?  Any risk of file corruption?

It should be safe, otherwise they wouldn't have enabled it.  It's been in progress (and tested along the way) for quite a while.  It's only now been enabled in current builds because a corruption bug that had been known for a long time has been fixed.  Basically, I think all the known bugs are gone.

Before it was enabled in current builds, a test build was made available to try to hammer out bugs.  Last time I saw the thread, which seems to have been deleted, about 20 people had used it, and I think it only turned up 1 minor bug (didn't cause corruption), which has since been fixed.

I have an e260R, and I can access the USB host from my OpenBSD box.  Your USB works better than the original firmware does.

Many thanks for the hard work...

Kind regards,

Yes, a big thank you to the Rockbox team! Kudos! Quick question, though: For the e200 to automatically boot into Rockbox from an off state when connected to a computer (vs. booting into the OF, as it does now), we would need a new bootloader, correct?

Correct.  Such does not exist yet, TTBoMK.

Thanks, dreamlayers! My e280 and c250 seem to have taken to the test bootloaders just fine!

about those 'bootloaders'

it's just a "PP5022.mi4" file... any idea on how to use those on a e200 series player?

cause before i ran a 'sansapatcher.exe' file in order to change bootloader

EDIT: nevermind i figured it out... all you had to do was a 'sansapatcher.exe -a PP5022.mi4' (when device was connected) and it worked. from brief testing it seems when e250 is off and i connect USB cable to PC it boots into Rockbox instead of original firmware ;)

p.s. finally, no crappy original firmware needed at all now... which is really nice as i got tired of deleting those files that the original firmware creates on your device every time the original Sansa firmware was booted up.
