My computer wont reconize my ipod ..
LambdaCalculus:
Diagnostic mode on the iPod is entered by rebooting (press and hold MENU+SELECT), and then immediately pressing and holding BACK+SELECT at the Apple logo. Your iPod's internal Diagnostic mode will start up; from here you can check your hard drive like Chronon suggested.
If your hard drive shows that it has problems, you can either consider replacing it, or just getting another iPod video.
Fel2:
oh ok .. well i had a green screen and it was saying all test was completed then a white screen , it say ; flash checksum , checksum=0x665c
everythings look fine ..
oh it fail somewhere , it say accesory test LCD ID : 2
FWPWR: 0
then it say ; please plug FW
but what is FW ?
what should i look for ?
Chronon:
I assume that FWPWR refers to firewire power. I think to test this you need to plug in a firewire charger. This shouldn't have anything to do with your problem. You're saying that the HD check returned fine?
It doesn't sound like you tried a different cable yet. Over the course of a couple of years I had two (maybe three) iPod cables go bad on me. Make sure you exclude this as a possibility.
Fel2:
well my ipod is only 2 month old so i dont think its the cable ..
and i didnt see any test for hard drive ..
but if my HD were broken , why my ipod is still working ?
i tried to ipod restore and it dont work duh !!

Chronon:
Rolling over the cable with an office chair can be enough to ruin it. You will increase your chances of finding the problem if you exclude possible factors one by one, instead of making assumptions.
If you enter diagnostic mode on your iPod you should be able to manually run individual diagnostic tests. The HD test is one of these. If your iPod operates normally but simply won't connect via USB (either through the original firmware or the emergency disk mode) then this makes me suspect the cable.
