If you want more help you should inform us of what you tried and what the results were.

It is not clear to me from this whether you have tried using iTunes to restore the iPod.  That is worth trying.  Be aware that it will erase anything you have on the iPod.

When that appears, try go to a command prompt and ruun chkdsk with the following command:

Code: [Select]
chkdsk f: /r

You can find more detailed instructions for using chkdsk here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265.  (I am inferring from your prior reference to "F:" that you are using Windows, but if you are using another operating system, please let us know that.)

Also, though you indicated that you tried different computers, you still haven't confirmed that you have tried a different cable.  If you have done so, please let us know and let us know what the result was.  If you have not done so, do it.  What you have described so far strongly suggests that your hard drive has failed or that it is corrupted.  But we really need you to eliminate the possible of a bad cable before we can any more to help you diagnose the problem.

You're not following the directions I gave you.  And you STILL haven't answered the question about the cable.  So, I am sorry, but I cannot help you further.

And as we've tried to make it clear to you many times in this thread, there are at least three possible causes of this problem:  (1) your cable may be bad, (2) your file system may be corrupted, and (3) your hard drive may be dead.  We need to eliminate these possible causes one at a time until there is only one possible cause remaining, and then we will have identified your problem.  I suspect your problem is #3, but we need you to take the steps necessary to confirm that it is not #1 or #2.

For #1, I find it hard to believe that you don't have a single friend who has an iPod who would lend you a cable for the 2 minutes it would take to test to see if another cable solves the problem.

For #2, you need to run chkdsk correctly.  The command prompt window should not close immediately, and the fact that it did suggests that you did something wrong.  You need to either (1) describe exactly what you did to try to run chkdsk, or (2) go back to the link I provided to you and read the instructions more carefully.
