[HELP] I can't get themes to work properly while using RockBox
(1/1)
92mike92:
Ok whell,I recently downloaded (around a week ago) RockBox, the newest version and everything.
I've figured out how to get iBoy on it, how to play the iBoy games and how to play pokemon red on my iPod successfully (whoopdeefkindoo)
Any way, I've been able to create backdrops as well, change back drops and the same goes with fonts.
The thing that's really been confusing me though is the whole theme concept.
How I've been downloading themes is by dragging all the theme file downloads (from winrar) into my .rockbox folder. (I remember being told to do so)
Then go into, Settings > Theme > (the theme I just downloaded)
And what has been happening to me lately it seems like the only thing that changed on me is the icons, fonts and backdrop, the set up is the same crap set up as the default though.
I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, and I don't know what I can do to make it display as it actually should (like in the previews)
So I want to keep my rockbox firmware (because I like to play pokemon) but I want this theme on it, to work correctly and to display correctly

I already downloaded IPW which I've been reading about for a while and learned its a necessity (not really sure how to use it though)
So... Help please?
Llorean:
iPodWizard is a tool for themeing the original firmware. It has nothing to do with Rockbox, and IPW themes will not change Rockbox's appearance in any way.
Chronon:
iBoy is not part of Rockbox either. I have to wonder about where you're getting your information from.
A properly bundled Rockbox theme should be a zip archive containing a .rockbox folder. It should be extracted to the root of your player so that all of the subfolders are properly merged with the existing folders on your player.

Yeah I know I was just kinda talking about my experience with RockBox.
(I got pretty damn lost when I used google for answers and I somehow ended up with IPW)
and I even try the ipod themes that we got here on teh forums which everyone is like oh that's so cool and stuff, but when I try to use it I unzip it into my root but the text doesn't reformat itself
Llorean:
If the text is showing the default text rather than the right text for your theme, it means that the theme is for some reason incompatible with the build of Rockbox you're trying to use it on. The most common reason for this is outdated themes needing updating.
