move sleep timer from System to Settings

Wouldn't settings be a better place for "Sleep Timer" ?.

Well, as the Time menu contains settings and the time display it's kinda weird in both places. I dislike more that it takes that much space just to display the current date / time -- a menu with a display feels out of place; and that it's the first item in the System menu -- that's weird IMO. Having all time related items in the same submenu makes sense though.

Oh, and remember that the sleep timer isn't saved, so it's some kind of special setting.

but targets without RTC it's just a timer which needs to be set, hence settings, *shrugs*

I dislike where its been moved to in the time menu.  Its not obvious at all it should be in there, and I had to look it up in the manual after it was moved to find it again.

is there a way for an end user to configure the menus to move the sleep timer to the main menu?  I thought I saw a thread that discussed this, but I can't pull it up in the search  :(.

No. That would be customizable menus which are a no-do.

IMO, no - it's not a setting.  You're telling Rockbox to do something once.

On devices with larger screens, I think it should be its own main menu option.  It doesn't fit in any of the others.

Would this be a good Candidate for the QuickScreen option?

I quite like where it's gone but think that the screen for viewing time and setting it should be merged.

the setting the clock is for sure a "system" deal...>>>  set it n forget it

setting the sleep timer (like I do) is a nightly ritual... music (or story time) 'til   zzzzzzz

but wait... since I always set it for 15 min... maybe that can go in system and trigger the countdown from the main menu???

(btw, THANK YOU rockbox team, for Rockbox ...my sansas love it)

Not replying to where the time and date screen belongs, but to the other idea that is implied here.

I don't think it would be a good thing to take screen size into account when thinking about another main menu item. In my opinion - if something is worth being a main menu item it should be for all devices. On small screens you already have to scroll the menu anyways to see all options, one line more or less is not a big deal and much preferable over having different main menus on different devices (and how about devices with large main but small remote screens, like the H300?).
