New wps: 220*176 XL, a suggestion, and a thankyou

(1/1)

denny:
Hi there, I've just completed and uploaded a new wps, XL: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH300#XL

(Album art is 50*50)

At the moment this is for 220*176 targets only but if anyone is interested in porting it to other targets I will tidy up and provide the .psd (though this could take a while  ;D).

While creating the icons I got thinking about something that I don't believe the wiki has at the moment and that's a wps makers resource page. Most of the while playing screens are released under creative commons licences so it might make sense to have somewhere people can post up wps elements they have created (or the entire wps .psd or similar), so others can use them. objects like status icons take quite a while to make so a page of resources could speed up wps creation for a lot of people. I'm aware that you can take the bitmaps from other wps and edit them quite easily but if the original full size or vector graphics were provided things would be far more flexible. Of course, I don't presume that everyone would want to release their sources but I for one am quite happy to distribute them under the same license at the finished wps.

Also, I just wanted to say thanks to Stephen Carroll who kindly brought my other wps's, DGT and Ultima up to date with newer syntax  :), it was on my to-do list...

At first glance I don't see a good reason not to make such a wiki page.
If the "resources" are provided "full size" or vector I would think a single page would be appropriate.  A link from the entry in the gallery page could be made to the "resource" page.  This resource page could contain a .zip file of the resources as well as any description and/or discussion you wanted to make on said resources.

WpsResources being a daughter page of WpsGallery seems a decent place to put it until the theme site is up and running.

Your theme looks quite nice, i would very much like to port it to severl targets.
I think Creating a WpsResources wiki entry would be a very useful institution.

Thanks for the comments guys, apologies for not replying sooner, I am a little short on time during the week. I'll get reading about making wiki pages and will try to get the .psd of XL uploaded soonish.

Cheers!
