Sansa E270 and MicrosSD Problem
« on: February 10, 2009, 12:21:48 AM »
I am having problems getting my E270 to read a 4gig Micro SD.
My sansa is version 01.02.18A and I am running Rockbox 3.0.
The Sansa does recognize a 2 gig micro SD, but I have 2 new 4 gig Sansa Micro SD's that shows up as a Micro SD, but it doesn't show the contents of the chip.  Also the 4 gig do work in my Sansa Express.  Any help will be appreciated.  I can load the 4 gig through the Sansa express and the Express does read it and play the songs, however  the Sansa E270 does not see it.  Do I need to load the 4 gig with a card reader?

Thanks

Since this isn't an installation question, please don't post it in the installation forum.

@ OP... i was told that the Sansa e200 series cant read past 2GB with it's own firmware... so in other words all MicroSDHC cards (which i think are larger than 2GB) wont be able to transfer data to and from them with the original sansa firmware.

so you have 2 options...

1.get a card reader

or...

2.transfer files to the internet memory of your e270 and then using Rockbox itself you can then transfer files to the 4GB MicroSDHC card.

good luck ;)

Hi,

With my Sansa E270, the 6gb one, version 1 - I have sucessfully used an 8GB micro SDHC and am now using a 16 GB microSDHC card with no problems. Both cards are from Sandisk, and I believe both are the high speed variety.

So get the best even if it costs more and its worth it.
I just wish the database was better, and showed proper trees as Sandisk do for the artists. Once you get to 24gb it gets annoying.

Regards

Mike

What do you mean, exactly, by "proper trees"?

Apologies for any confusion, To the original question, I'm using a 16GB micro SDHC + Rockbox to read the files.
To install music you need a card reader and a PC to copy music on to the 16GB and then use Rockbox to play them.

Trees, apologies I should have said folders. Sandisk shows each Artist as a folder, then a sub folder for each album, this is how I sort them in  Windows and copy them across.
When I use Rockbox to play them, the artist of each track seems to be in the root folder - if its part of a compilation album/folder.  Most other albums/artists seem OK, its just that I have quite a few compilations.
Maybe its the tag its reading and I've got it wrong?

"Database" IS just tag reading. The "Files" option shows how you've organized the folders. This is covered in the manual.
