ok, now in all the IDE's i've used There is a list of what kind of application you want to use it for, like a console application(just like MS DOS). What do I use?

You're confused.  Follow the steps in SimpleGuideToCompiling.  You don't need to set up a project in Dev C++, because the only thing you would be using Dev C++ for is it's text editor (if you wish to use it, that is - in my opinion there are many better text editors available).
