Installing Rockbox on my E200R Sansa

Hey guys. I'm new to this site (just signed up 2 minutes ago) and I am having a problem installing rockbox. I have the Sansa E200R and i have read the intsructions for installing this. My problem seems to be getting into manufacturer mode. I put the hold switch on and held select and i pluged in my chord. The blue ring lighted up but the screen stayed black and it didnt ask me for the driver location. When i went to device manager and right clicked on USB mass storage device and hit Update Driver Software, it gave me an option to browse my computer or scan online. It couldn't find anything online. I'm not sure what to do now. If you have any help, PLEASE respond, i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
p.s. i am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I hope the install works on vista also.

Please take a look at the posting guidelines, specifically the parts about using real words, not things like "u"

Not many people have a e200r, and as the install is a bit different to normal, not many people can help.  Clearly we don't want everybody that reads this post just to reply to say, "Sorry, I can't help".  Also, you posted at a time that was for me the middle of the night - this applies for many others too.  Just sit tight and I'm sure somebody will come along soon that can help.

Don't have it look online, as it won't find anything in usual Windows driver repositories.  You should be able to manually point the OS to the driver that you downloaded.

Ok, i have a couple of thing. First off, when i go into manufacture mode, the screen stays black and the blue rings lights up but nothing happens. My computer doesn't recognize it like it usually does. Normally it says it is drive (K:) but it doesn't say there is a Sansa connected when i am in manufacture mode. Also when i unplug it, the blue light stays on and nothing happens and i can not turn it off unless i take the battery out. Btw i tried manually searching for driver updates and i point it to the folder with the driver i downloaded but my computer says my device is updated to the latest firmware. Not sure what's going on, but i hope you guys do. Thanks.

Sorry, but I don't have any knowledge of Vista, at all.  In XP there are two radio buttons:

• Search for the best driver in these locations:
      This has two checkboxes, one of which allows you to specify a folder to search.  It seems you chose this                 equivalent on your system.
• Don't search.  I will choose the driver to install.
       This is the one you would choose.

Hopefully there is some equivalent on Vista.  Unfortunately, it seems that Vista users are not too common around here.

Ok, i have found my own way to install the driver software (a long and painful process, but it was worth it) and i ran the e200rpatcher program. Heres what it says:

Please tell me there's a way to fix this cause I'm getting really close to getting Rockbox.

UPDATE: Never mind, i found out a way to do it. I've unlocked the firmware and I'm about to install Rockbox.

Would you mind posting what you did?  If you have clear instructions for what works for Vista then I'm sure others would appreciate if these were posted to the wiki.

please lmk if you are able to install rockbox and how you did it becuase i have followed ALL steps and still am unable to find a answer to why my rockbox isnt loading up
