Why not follow the instructions the bootloader is giving you to get into Emergency Disk Mode? From there, you can install a Rockbox build.

before it happened i was playing the doom game and i turned it off and i put it in my bag and when i took it out it gave me that message

Describe EXACTLY what happened when you tried the reset combination.   How do you know the battery is dead?  Have you let the iPod charge?  For how long?

You really need to provide details if you want help here.

Febs:
codywatts, I just merged your two threads.   DO NOT start multiple threads on the same problem.  And don't say that your player is "bricked" when you just haven't completed the installation.  You had me trying to help you solve a non-existent problem.

I'm sorry, but I'm not buying this. The message the bootloader gave you only happens when you install the bootloader, but not a Rockbox build. Even if the hard drive had started giving you problems, this message wouldn't appear in this instance.

Do you have a .rockbox folder on the root directory of your iPod's hard drive? (yes, with the . at the beginning) And please do not make another thread regarding this matter, as Febs asked.
