Have you tried resetting the iPod by pressing Menu and Select simultaneously and holding those two buttons for up to 30 seconds?

If that does not work, please provide us with additional details, like what you did with your iPod immediately before you experienced this problem, which Rockbox build you are using, and what other steps you have tried to correct the problem, if any.

You  need to install a Rockbox build.  You can do so manually, or you can use the Rockbox Utility.  Instructions for both can be found in the Installation chapter of the Rockbox manual.

Why not follow the instructions the bootloader is giving you to get into Emergency Disk Mode? From there, you can install a Rockbox build.

Describe EXACTLY what happened when you tried the reset combination.   How do you know the battery is dead?  Have you let the iPod charge?  For how long?

You really need to provide details if you want help here.

codywatts, I just merged your two threads.   DO NOT start multiple threads on the same problem.  And don't say that your player is "bricked" when you just haven't completed the installation.  You had me trying to help you solve a non-existent problem.

I'm sorry, but I'm not buying this. The message the bootloader gave you only happens when you install the bootloader, but not a Rockbox build. Even if the hard drive had started giving you problems, this message wouldn't appear in this instance.

Do you have a .rockbox folder on the root directory of your iPod's hard drive? (yes, with the . at the beginning) And please do not make another thread regarding this matter, as Febs asked.

Yes.  That's the point of Disk Mode, right?

codywatts, do NOT PM staff members or developers with support questions again, unless asked to.

Once your iPod is in disk mode, extract a build to the root folder of the drive.
