Go to Next Track
« on: February 06, 2009, 03:34:52 PM »
I've looked through the 176 page manual and I've searched this forum.  I can not find an answer that I can understand.

I'm using a sansa e250 mp3 player.
I've downloaded and installed version r19933-090206

Everything seems to be working fine, except I have 2 questions:

1 - During playback in the WSP screen, my "right button" to "go to next track" will not work.  If I press and hold it, it will pause the current song, but at no time will skip the song and begin playing the next.

2 - Can someone recommend a good open source program to tag my music - with artist, song name, album, genre and so forth.

I used to use Windows Media player to do this, but since upgrading to Vista and adding a 8GB micro card, it will no longer recognize my sansa player.  That's, actually, how I found you guys.

Thanks in advance.

1 - seems to be a hardware problem - does it do the same with the original Sansa firmware?
2 - http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ is very good

1.  No, just with the Rockbox stuff.  If I quickly press the right button, the song completely starts over.

2.  I'll give it a try.  Thanks.

UpDATE:

I'm not sure what happened, but everything works perfectly now.  Did the download you suggested, retagged and/or double checked everything, re-initialized the database and WAAALAAA - perfect.  For some reason the "Right" button actually does advance player to the next song now.

This software is ssooooooo much better than the Sansa stuff.  Before Rockbox and after I first inserted my 8gb memory card, every time I turned it on it took like 3 minutes refreshing the database.  Now, with Rockbox, I turn it on and about 4 seconds later, it's ready to play.

This stuff is great.  I'm glad I stumbled upon you guys today.

Thanks for all your help yapper.

(Your last name ins't Yapp by chance is it?  I know some Yapps from Vegas.)

What did you mean by this - didn't see what download he suggested unless it was just the tagging. I have Sansa C250 and none of my "long" button presses do anything. Very frustrating to not be able to skip songs, rewind, etc. I wonder if I need to reinstall from scratch?

Thanks,
Sharoney

holding right should make it seek forward in the current track. it pauses because rockbox currently doesnt let you hear audio while its seeking

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
