Rockbox & FM Transmitter for Sansa e280
« on: February 05, 2009, 05:07:32 PM »
I'm new to rockbox.  I recently installed 3.1 onto my Sansa e280.  I love how fast it loads.  One thing I have noticed is that when I attach my Griffin FM transmitter to it, the player defaults back to the normal Sandisk operating system.  Is there some setting I need to change to have my music play thru rockbox while it's connected to the transmitter?  Thanx for any help you may be able to give me in.

I did see that setting.  But for some reason whether the car mode adapter is on or off, when I plug the player into the transmitter, it defaults back to Sandisk O/S.  I plug the player (which is off) into the transmitter.  The player turns on and opens in Rockbox.  Then it automatically reboots itself into the Sandisk O/S.  Then it refreshes the database. And then it will allow me to access songs.  Did I maybe install Rockbox incorrectly?  I followed the manual install instructions.  Thanx again for any help.

My guess is that the bootloader is interpreting the presence of voltage on the USB power pins as a USB connection and rebooting into the OF for USB mode.  According to my understanding, the Rockbox bootloader does not currently have a way to distinguish a real USB connection from a USB charger and reboots into the OF when power is detected.  What happens if you plug your player in while Rockbox is booted?  It's also possible that the accessory won't work without receiving some sort of communication from the Sansa.  If that's the case then it won't work with Rockbox in its present state.

Thank you so much chronon.  Being new to Rockbox, I greatly appreciate your wisdom.  When my sansa is already on and I plug it into my griffin transmitter, it does stay in rockbox to play my songlists.  If it's off, and I plug it in, it goes back to the sandisk o/s.  Thanx to aaronc222 for your help as well.
