--- Quote from: rmaniac on February 28, 2009, 02:53:34 AM ---I have picked up one of these 240gb drives for the ipod 5.5G and installed it. After setting rockbox to use LBA48 and a sector size of 4096 it works great so far (I just got the drive today). If anyone needs information on what to change in the source or just a precompiled bootloader and rockbox setup I can post that somewhere. I will post if I have any issues, I am copying about 200gb of .ogg files over to it right now. The drive boots the apple OS and rock box, both show 223GB or something on them.

rmaniac- I am finally all set up to compile my own builds, and I was planning on doing a build up of one of these monster ipods. What did you change in the source code to get it to work properly? How did you make these changes? Any tips? I am pretty new to compiling, and coding in general, but I know enough C and C++ to get in trouble...lol...anyway any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Oh and to the military guy, rapid repair does ship to APO...I called them and asked...and cheers from Iraq...

Well for one there is a post of mine here:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=20960.0

That has images ready to go. Other than that you need to change the firmware/export/config-ipodvideo.h

Add:

/* Add LBA48 for my 240GB */
#define HAVE_LBA48

and change:

#define MAX_LOG_SECTOR_SIZE 16384
and
#define MAX_PHYS_SECTOR_SIZE 4096

Then you can compile the bootloader and rockbox and all should be happy.

Hello,

I just tried to install your build on my 240gb 5.5 and my ipod has shut down completely.  It's showing this message on the screen:

*panic* unsupported physical sector size: 4096

A hard reboot just ends up at the same screen, and my computer won't recognize it as a drive.

Any advice as to what I should do?  At this point I'm not worried about getting Rockbox to work, I just want my iPod back.

Thanks...

*edit*

rmaniac got me going again...thanks

Upgraded iPod Video for 120GB for now and am transferring files.  I think 120GB should do for .ogg for the forseeable future.  Whoo Hoo!
