So I'd just recently received a refurbished Sansa e260 from Woot!, at a very decent price, and thereby did join the Rockbox'd population. The acquisition has given me the motivation to get my music in order, download album covers, standardize file tags, that sort of thing.
Well, I've got a problem, the source of which I can't quite discern; some of my files' Track Numbers, as displayed in the database, have had a "1." added right in front of whichever number should have been displayed. For example, my rips of Wall of Voodoo's album, Call of the West is displayed,
1.01. Tomorrow
1.02. Lost Weekend
etc.
I have some reason to believe that this may have something to do with the system under which the tags were applied. I'm setting all my tags manually, using the functionality included with XP under right-click>Properties>Summary, and occasionally I'll finish adding tags to an album to find it's been afflicted. Well, on a hunch, I downloaded a full copy of another album I owned that was afflicted with the plague of 1's. Possibly coincidentally, it was also an album by Wall of Voodoo- Dark Continent, to be specific. The downloaded copy was, indeed, different from my ripped copy; the track numbers were just displayed "01., 02., etc." Curiously, though, after opening one of the tracks with the XP tag editor, it started being listed as "1.01" in the track number listing.
This isn't just a cosmetic difference. Two files, one labeled correctly, and the other with the mysterious 1., will be displayed in their numerical order in the database. Dark Continent after the alteration of that one file, for example, was listed in the database as:
02. Two Minutes Till Lunch
03. Animal Day
....
09. This Way Out
1.01 Red Light
10. Good Times
11. Crack the Bell
After selecting one of the pieces to be played, the handling of the play order was also strange: When "This Way Out" was playing, there was no piece displayed as the Next Song... but rockbox cycled to Red Light, anyway.
Basically, this means that if I happen to have two sets of files from one album, some of them with the "1." and some without, the filed will play out of order. Maybe it seems petty, but it matters with albums like Quadrophenia, you know?
Any suggestions? Has this behavior been exhibited for anyone else? I did a few searching on the Wiki and the forums, but couldn't find much.
Edit: Oh, by the way, all the afflicted files are in the MP3 format. I can't say with any certainty that this would be a problem exclusive to that file type, though. I haven't done extensive testing.
