bozeefus:
i just got my c240 for a couple of days and feel in love with.

my friend told me about rockbox and i felt incline to install it

i decided to install it using the rockbox utility. none of my PC machines detected it (one was able to but it was unable to autodetect it)

so i went on my macbook and used the dmg rockbox utlity. i choose complete installation and everything went through just fine except for themes, i had to manually do those.

everything went through just fine.

then i reached this step:
"Remove your player from the computer’s USB port. Your e200 will automatically
reboot and Rockbox should load. When you see the Rockbox splash screen, Rockbox is
loaded and ready for use."

i did this. and instead of rebooting, it just keeps flashing the rockbox yellow screen

i tried holding the power+left button to go back to original firmware but

i get this message:

File not found
Binary type: RBOF
Calculated CRC32: F44A
Can't load from partition
Bad check sum
Trying /system/OF.m14
Can't load system/OF

:(

I'm just mad because I only got to use it for a day or so.

so essentially, i can't get into original FW or rockbox.

Sorry this thread is such a huge mess. I keep on getting my posting cut right after i post the specs on version.txt file

saratoga:
This sounds a lot like the MacOS bug on the rockbox utility page, though I don't have a mac so I'm not sure.  Either way, follow the instructions here to unbrick:

Load main image fai

Please connect USB (i do so)
Mini-B --> Device Mode
USb 2.0 MSD
LUNO locked

saratoga:
If you mean you haven't fixed it yet, you should explain in detail what you've done, what steps you've followed, and why you are stuck.  Its very hard to guess whats going on based on what you've said.

If you mean that you fixed it, well never mind.

bozeefus:
Sorry saratoga.

I do appreciate you helping me this Wednesday evening.

So here I go.

I switched it to "hold", held REC and the power button. It entered Recovery mode.

I saw the drive on my macbook desktop. it's called 16MB-FORMAT.

inside had only 1 file: VERSION.TXT

here is what the .txt file contained:
