Playlist's name on Sansa e250R
AlexP:
You should be adding it to a playlist in the playlist CATALOGUE
I've specifically said playlist catalogue in each of my posts. From the context menu for a song, select playlist catalogue, then you can add the song to an existing playlist in the playlist catalogue. This is also in the manual.
However, it doesn't seem you can easily delete from a playlist in the playlist catalogue, so it doesn't help with all your original question.

I really appreciate your patience, your time, and no doubt, your wonderful job as a Rockbox Expert.
I do understand what you specifically said, trust me. I do know how to insert/queue (shuffled, next, last), add, and remove tracks to/from a playlist. I am not the beginner user. I really do understand what I am doing. Actually that is the way I usually create new playlists (I need to create a new playlist every week for my weekly practice as a bass player).
Maybe I have not been able to get you to my point and show you my scenario (which could be not only mine but others' too)
My point is saving a playlist that already exists but has been modified by adding and/or removing tracks. The only way to save a modified playlist is through the playlist menu/save current playlist. This leads me to the virtual keyboard and makes me "type" a filename for that playlist. But that playlist already exists. I wish the rockbox firmware gave the option to save that modified playlist under its name by default instead of typing it.
By the way I am using Roxkbox 3.1 build R19752-090112 on a Sansa E250R
Again, I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

My apologies if I came across as a bit rude, I didn't intend to.

No, it isn't. If you have a pre-existing playlist in the playlist catalogue, then open the context menu on a song, select playlist catalogue, select add to playlist, then select the playlist to which you want to add it, then it is saved automatically to that playlist. You do not have to save the playlist manually. Using a playlist in the playlist catalogue is different to a standard playlist. Try it.
This doesn't help with playlists stored anywhere else on the drive (the playlist catalogue is playlists in /Playlists), nor does it help with deleting them, but believe me for adding tracks to a playlist in the playlist catalogue you do not have to manually save it, it works as I describe.

O.K. I got it now. I finally could add tracks to my playlists without re-saving it. Thank you so much.
On the other hand, as you stated before, playlists modified by deletion of tracks do need to be re-saved. This was my original point: I wish I did not have to type the playlist name (one that already exists) when re-saving it after modifications like deletion of tracks or moving tracks within the playlist. I would be nice from ROCKbox to offer the original playlist name by default when SAVING CURRENT PLAYLIST in the virtual keyboard.
Again, I'm not complaining. I'm just bringing up an idea that could help others too.
Thank you for all your help.
Fernando
