USB connect while holding SELECT on c240 doesn't enter Rockbox in 3.1 or builds.
Wiley:
**** UPDATE ****
I discovered that the issue referenced below is solved by attempting the connect while already in Rockbox. A cold boot-up does not work as I interpreted it in the manual. Now that I understand, all is good.
*******************************************************
In the latest Rockbox Sansa c200 manual, section "3.3 Charging" says: "The player can be powered over USB without connecting to your computer by holding Select while plugging in. This allows you to continue using the player normally."
I've tried the stock 3.1 release and r19908 build. Both versions will show some Rockbox startup data for a moment or two, then jump to the OF connection. In all other respects, the c240 seems to like Rockbox, but this functionality seems to be broken on my unit.
I've searched the Bug and Patch list for some hints about what may be going on. I'm not seeing anything obvious. Ideas?

I can also confirm this behavior. Long story short - I had to "unbrick" my e280R today and I ended up loading the 5.0 bootloader and release 3.1.
If I connect the sansa to the computer with USB and hold select, I see the rockbox bootloader and it attempts to load the rockbox firmware, but that fails and it then falls back to the OF. The error that I see is "Can't load from partition" and "Invalid file format". It then loads /System/OF.mi4 without an issue.
My sansa has been wiped clean, so I can do some testing if needed.

No one has an answer or suggestion on this? If needed, I can start a new thread with the proper info.

Did you actually read the post to which you replied? Unless I totally misunderstand your your question, your answer is there
AJ Schroeder:
I read it, and I went back and read the manual for my player (e280R) and while I am using an E series player and not a C series, the documenation is the same.
So, the manual clearly states:
3.3. Charging
The player can be powered over USB without connecting to your computer by holding Select while plugging in. This allows you to continue using the player normally.
However, my issue is that it never used to behave that way. When my player had the older bootloader on it, with the sansa powered off, I would be able to take the USB cable that was plugged into my computer, plug it into the sansa, hold select, and Rockbox would boot up. Now when I repeat that process, the OF eventually boots up instead of rockbox.
Now, the way that I am reading the manual it says that should not work, but it did from the time I loaded rockbox onto the sansa until a couple weeks ago when I put the new bootloader on.
My question is how would I go about fixing that? Put an older bootloader on the player? Is there a way to get older bootloaders to prove my theory out?
