Need some advice/tips for the EQ in rockbox
« on: February 02, 2009, 06:35:45 PM »
Recently i bought a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones, and yes they are amazing. Not just for wireless, overal they are very very good. However...not that i'm using them on my H10 i hear that the quality ain't too good. It used to sound good with my In ear headphones.

I have been tweaking around a bit with the EQ settings...tried a few presets, all of them IMO lousy....so i am using SRS Wow now, which seem to be the only one that sounds right...almost...the bass is too much, too heavy.

So now that i have Rockbox on it, i have EVEN MORE eq settings, it's crazy.

What i need is some advice for EQ settings, what is in YOUR opinion a great setting to use? WHat should i put all those sliders to?

Music i listen to is mostly

Rap/hiphop
Michael Jackson
Singer/songwriters

So what i need for rap and MJ is basically a powerful bass, but not a bass that completely takes over.

You may not realize this, but EQ settings are specific to each pair of headphones (which is why you noticed a difference when you switched headphones).  Since you haven't even told us what you used, theres no way anyone could give you a meaningful answer here even in the very unlikely case that they know.

Rather then asking, a better idea would be to play a few test tones, or a frequency sweep on your PC and adjust the EQ until it sounds relatively even across frequency (I.E lows don't blast you while highs are quiet).  Then you could make similar adjustments in Rockbox.

The headphones i am using are Sennheiser RS130.

The EQ settings in Rockbox are the default ones. Haven't changed anything.
I was just wondering if there was someone who listened to the same genres of music, and what their EQ settings were.
