Playlist confusion

(1/1)

zabolots:
(As a point of reference, I'm coming from a Creative Zen Vision:M)

I picked up a Sansa e200 and flashed latest RockBox onto it and I'm having problems understanding the playlist functionality. I read the manual but it states that it is out of date and/or incomplete which may be why I'm having issues.

When browsing through the Database (might be different via Files but I don't want to navigate that way), I navigate down to an album (Artist -> Album) that I want to listen to. I use a long select to bring up the playlist context menu and it only has Insert and Insert shuffled. Where are the other options (Queue, Play next, etc)? How can I just play the single album, rewriting the existing dynamic playlist?

Ideally, what I'd like to do is simply queue up several albums into a new dynamic playlist but I'm having a helluva time figuring out how to do it. The interface does not seem intuitive at all.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chronon:
Are you doing this when stopped?  The full list of options is only available when you have a current playlist.  Try inserting your first song or album (or simply start playing the first song or album) and then you should see the full complement of options.

zabolots:
I think I figured out my problem. While the music was playing I would hit the Power/Menu key to browse to a new album to try to add it to the current playlist. This would automatically pause the player. If I use the Submenu key while music is playing and browse to a new album I do get the other options (Queue, etc).

Chronon:
Power/Menu is really a Stop button in Rockbox.  The "submenu" takes you to the menu.  While Power/Menu also does this, since stopping playback forces you out of the WPS, the submenu key should really be thought of as the menu key in Rockbox.

Table 4.1.1 in the manual is also roughly valid for browsing the database (with the exception that Left, Right and Select invoke corresponding actions based on database filters instead of directories).

If you think you can help present the information in a clearer way then please submit a patch for the manual to the patch tracker.  While a patch against the LaTeX source would be preferred, a plain text write up of the changes is also fine.
