trouble installing RB on 30GB iPod video

(1/2) > >>

Mr. X:
I'm a Mac User too btw. I successfully converted the iPod to FAT32 and it shows up as being a windows iPod. However, iTunes and disk utility say that its capacity is something like 111GB, I don't understand that at all. I used rbutilqt to do a complete installation and it seems to work fine. The problem is when I boot the iPod I only get some text telling my there's no partition found. I'd really appreciate some help in sorting this out.

bluebrother:
How did you convert the Ipod? Looks somewhat related to the 2048 sector issue (though I though that's only an issue for 80GB models).

Mr. X:
I followed the guide for manual conversion at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodConversionToFAT32

I believe my sector size is 512. I'll go ahead and try using the other bin file though...

Apparently I was wrong! the 2084 bin file worked. I had to install rockbox manually though, rbutilqt doesn't seem to work for some reason. OK, I've got everything sorted for now. Thanks!

can you be more specific on that? Especially what part didn't work and how did this appear? It's always possible there's a bug in Rockbox Utility, but simply telling us that it didn't work but manual install did won't help finding (and fixing) possible bugs.

Mr. X:
Well, there was no .rockbox folder on the iPod after using the installer. So I downloaded and put it on manually and then it worked fine.  Sorry if I'm not being detailed enough. I believe I read something about that possibly being a problem with the unzipping application rather than a problem with rbutilqt. The default app for .zip files on my computer is Archive Utility.
