Playing music on RockBox

(1/1)

rakinishu:
Hi i installed Rockbox on my c240 and its amazing program. I was playing Doom on it lol
however, the main problem is music. I syncd the music using windows media player. syncing was complete. When i try to play any songs via rockbox no success. no music files exist. however when i boot via sandisks os the music is all there.... and i could listen to the music
i would like to know what im doing wrong. must i drag/drop the music via MSC Usb mode ?

AlexP:
Yes, transfer music in MSC mode.  You can still use synching programs for this if you want.  A good idea is not to put them in the Music folder, as the Sansa firmware hides that everytime you boot, making it a little awkward.

ty for the fast response, i synced it using windows media player... i could play the music through rockbox. However when i wanna sync it up again when connecting to the computer, windows media player says that there is no music tracks. however I could see that the harddrive is filled halfway. As you said that rockbox hides the music files... can you recommend a good sync program other than wmp.

cool_walking_:
Rockbox doesn't hide the folder, the original Sansa firmware does.  There are some syncing programs listed on the UsefulTools wiki page.  Perhaps if you use a different folder that doesn't get hidden by the Sansa firmware (say, "music2"), WMP will work properly.

Sansa firmware, not Rockbox.  Rockbox does nothing you don't tell it to do.

Are you synching it in MSC mode?  As cool_walking_ said, try using a different names directory, such as "Audio"

WMP not seeing the files would seem to be a WMP problem however.
