Hi, Need Major help!!
I had two ipod video's (30 gb and 80 gb)... rockbox installed on both of em..
80b was not connecting to the comp (nothing being detected, not even in disk mode.. to no windows or mac computer)...
I took out 80gb's harddisk and put it in 30gb's... it did work.. got connected, i saw the contents,. but then I FOOLISHLY UPDATED THE APPLE FIRMWARE!!
so now, both of them are not working (they are showing the www.apple.com/support screen).. i've interchanged the hardsk too but nothin!!! Is there any way out of it... Pls help me!!!
thanks

EDIT:
ok.. 30gb working fine now... (drained battery.. connected 30gb hddisk n it works.. )
But 80gb harddisk just keeps shutting again and again... but if i put it on my 30gb ipod (i.e. 80gb hddisk on 30gb ipod), i am able to go to disk mode... but comp says harddisk not formated
also: itunes say you need to restore..
any idea what to do? if i restore it, 80gb hardisk wuld get messed up, right.. how wuld i then install rockbox on it??

Let's leave aside the issue of the 30GB player, since that seems to be working now. If your 80GB player doesn't work immediately after an update by Apple then there's a chance that the flash on your player has been corrupted. Are you able to enter Disk Mode? If so, then backup all of the files on your player (if you haven't already) and Restore as it asks you. You should attempt installation of Rockbox from a fully functioning state.
Also, please don't use terms like "pls". Try to use standard English (for reasons outlined in the Forum Guidelines).

Thanks for your reply.
I have backed up my 80gb hard disk and was putting it back when i broke it's LCD (maybe I was frustrated). For my 80gb, I can't go into disk mode. The phone now refuses to be switched on. If i connect it to a charger / computer, I see a similar screen when the battery is low (from the LCD part thats not broken), but even after a couple of hours, the same screen is there.
I changed the battery (used the 30gb one), it did switch on but didn't go into disk mode. The screen appeared where it said 'use itunes to restore..' but as the ipod is not being detected, i am helpless.
Any clues how to flash the logic board or any other workarounds in anybody's mind?

sounds to me like you've destroyed either the logic board (in which case you have to buy a new one) or something as simplew and cheap to buy as an ipod zif cable. it sounds like you have been swapping drives like crazy and likely you damaged the ribbon cable or connector.
doh , just realized how okld this thread is LOL
