"No Sansa detected"
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:35:11 AM »
The Rockbox Utility is not detecting my e260 in MSC mode (the e260 is connected and visible in Explorer as a drive).
After I manually install .rockbox on the e260, I get no Rockbox splash on reboot. (even after bootloader install). I'm missing something but can't figure what.

What version is the Sansa firmware?

Also, try using rbutil 1.0.7 - there is a bug installing the sansa bootloader in later versions.

searching the forums would have helped (which you are required to by the forum guidelines) as this is a common problem recently. Guess why ...

What if bootloader 1.0.7 doesn't do the trick ? I have the exact same problem as daithio, but your advice didn't work for me...

My Sansa is detected by my computer, in msc mode, seen as the F: drive, but neither rbutil or the bootloader will detect it...

Any idea ?

Then you have a different issue. Please post some more details ... which OS, which Sansa, which OF version etc.

I have been reading the forum responses here, I of course have the same issue. Sansa e280/win xp home. Is there a link to rbutil 1.0.7?

Current versions shouldn't have the problem any more. If you're having problems having your Sansa detect with a current version of RBUtil (1.2 as of this post) please describe in detail the problems you're having and the message you're receiving.

When I select autodetect I get the "could not detect a device select the device and mountpoint manually"  When I select e200 in the device window and click ok I get the " no mountpoint given" When I browse for the e280 in the file system it is not there. When I open "My Computer" the e280 icon is there there is noletter designation to the drive however. It would be simple if I could find the drive in the file system menu. Finally when I close the configuation window I see SanDisk Sansa e200 at <invalid> I am not especially anxious to proceed as I have allready Dammaged one player irrecoverably. I am lucky it was under warranty

You cannot install to your sansa without having a drive letter in Windows.  You probably skipped the step where you put your sansa into MSC mode (where it has a drive letter).  If that didn't make sense to you, check the "Installation" section of the rockbox manual.

you know I did in fact change to msc mode when I first got the unit, but wouldn't you know it you were right for some reason it had reverted and I did not realize the difference in the way it reads in "My Computer". So of course the utility works perfectly now, Thanks

Hello guys  ;D im new at this. I'm not a noob so i will understand you guys. So heres the thing. I need help. OK so here are my specs. I have  a sansa e260vs. I know it doesnt have that option on settings to change it to a msc mode or something, but i got around it. you put it on hold and you press the center button while plugging in. ok i got tht down. now when i download rbutil i put every info in, and everything, and i put where my sansa is located in this case F: since it cant auto detect. Now when im on mycomputer my sansa is visable and everything. But when im clicking the install button it says no sansa detected. plus a couple posts above i noticed that i shud use rbutil v 1.0.7  but i cant find a link for the download. PLEASE guys help me i want to get rockbox

Read the whole thread.  You don't need an old version.
