SD card directory created has infinite sub-directories
(1/1)
6string_stephen:
I have a Sansa e250 with an 8GB SD card. Everything has been working great since updating to 3.1. today I decided to create a new directory on the root of the SD card. I created the directory and it created seemingly infinite sub-directories that included a copy of everything on my SD card. Weird huh? I go to delete the directory and it deletes everything on my SD card EXCEPT the new directory I created!!! How can I format the card in Rockbox? I am using Vista business on my laptop but it will not detect the 8GB SD card. so I have been doing all my modifying through rockbox interface. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
AlexP:
You can't format it in Rockbox. Unfortunately the Rockbox SD driver on the Sansas has a bug whereby it can occasionally corrupt the filesystem - this is one reason why the Rockbox USB mode is not yet enabled.
You need to find a card reader for your card and run chkdsk or equivalent from your PC.

thanks for your help. I'll try and get vista to recognize my card. I have microsd to Sd card converter and a reader in my laptop. The quest continues...
Chronon:
The reader must recognize SDHC, not just SD, or it won't work.
If you have been routinely moving files between the internal storage and the micro SDHC card then it's possible that you encountered this bug too: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9409
