Bootloader problem with e260
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:55:30 PM »
I have my Sansa Sandisk e260 in MSC USB mode and am logged on with admin rights, but the bootloader cannot detect the device in drive G:/. I have rockbox installed on it, and I've tried manually and with the rockbox utility to install the bootloader, but nothing has worked. What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure you have a v1 player?  What's the firmware version?

I have version V03.01.16A. Does that mean I can't run rockbox?

You have a v2 (or AMS) Sansa e260.  Rockbox currently doesn't support this device, which explains your difficulty in installing the bootloader.  There seems to be fairly steady development work on these players currently, but it's impossible to predict when a port for your player will be ready.

Can I change my version or develop a port for my device on my own?

The version of your player is determined by hardware.  You could develop a port on your own.  But why work in isolation?  If you want to work on it then check out the topic in the New Ports forum.
