Manual Playlist Advance
(1/1)
Lieuallen:
Unlike most people, I would really like my Sansa e260 to play one song, and then STOP. I would then manually select the next song I want, and it should play, and then STOP!
I am using the Sansa to play music at dances, and at the end of the dance, I'd like the music to stop. Instead, the next song starts to play, and I have to run up to the podium to press STOP.
Is there any functionality like WinAmp's "manual playlist advance" where only one song is played?
Many thanks!

There's a patch on the tracker here: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/9114
Unfortunately, I hear it may be a bit out of sync at the moment.
Llorean:
A simple solution is just to select a single song and "insert" it so that you have a one-song playlist. Then playback will stop when the song ends (assuming you don't have repeat on, that is).

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply. This looks like it could be exactly what I'm looking for!
Unfortunately, I'm a total noob with RockBox (and open source software for that matter). What in the world do I do with this patch? I managed to get RockBox installed, so I'm not totally incompetant (my son might argue this point!), but re-compiling from the source code may be beyond me....
Again, thanks!
Llorean:
Double wow! I'll try this when I get home -- it sounds even easier (makes me wish I'd thought of it myself!).
Chronon:
If it's out of sync then additional changes need to be made before it can be applied cleanly against the source code. If you're interested in pursuing this patch then you can investigate the docs index (the For Developers section) for instructions on getting a build environment set up and how to apply patches and build your own Rockbox. Once you have done that you will be in a good position to apply patches that are currently in sync with the source tree. I haven't taken any look at this patch so I have no idea how difficult it would be to resync it. You could leave a message on the patch ticket if you find it is indeed out of sync.
In the meantime, Llorean provided a workaround that may suffice for your purposes.
