OTG on iRiver H10
« on: January 29, 2009, 01:10:03 PM »
I wanted to ask if someone tried to make OTG (On-The-Go - copying files from USB devices to the player's HDD without using PC)plugin for iRiver H10 and other players? Is that possible to do at all? There will be no problem about connecting USB devices to player, beouse there is a lot of connectors to do that.

What do you think? :> - it would be great. I always wanted to connect my camera to player and just copy photos... :)

I'm pretty sure it's not possible, the H10 wasn't designed for OTG, and anyway it would require modifying the USB cable (since the H10 has a proprietary connector...)

Also, it would require working USB in Rockbox (currently USB transactions are done by the OF in UMS mode, and there's no way of getting OTG in the OF) which last I heard was working well enough if one wanted to play with it (by enabling USB in their own build), but is not yet commited to SVN since there's still some work to be done.

Welp, my iriver H10 20GB is out of commission again.

The Rockbox USB code aims to provide device functionality, as far as I am aware.  Being able to act as host or in OTG mode is a different story.  You need to also write device drivers for each device class that you want to connect to a USB host.
