which device will work
« on: January 28, 2009, 12:03:31 PM »
Since my last post about the 3rd gen ipod not being able to record, I borrowed a friend's 30 gig ipod video.

I cannot find in the documentation whether I can record thru the headphone jack, or whether I need to mod a docking cable. Where is the official documentation page?

Which failing, which devices can I use to plug a stereo line in to use rockbox's excellent recording facility? Which irivers support this? If someone can point me to the page saying which need mods, and which can plug line ins direct, I'd be really grateful.

This is for stereo recording from my digital piano, thanks

I don't think any ipods can record through the headphone jack in Rockbox.

The only player with digital line in, as far as I know, is the iriver H1x0.

The iAudio X5 has 'regular' line in via the sub-pack (which is a nuisance, but small and light)

OK thanks guys. I must be being dumb, but I can't find a documentation page where it specified which kind of connections you need to get line in audio into each device. This should be really obvious info right? I can't find it anywhere on the site. How else do people know how to record without that info? If anyone can point me towards it I'd be grateful, thanks

I assume it should be easy enough to find on the manufacturer's page if no one has compiled it on our wiki.
