Rockbox Do Not Disconnect question.
« on: January 23, 2009, 05:24:00 PM »
I have been searching for an answer to this question but have not been able to find what I am looking for. Why does the ipod(5G 60GB) show the black Do Not disconnect image and text instead of the color version when connected to a pc. Is it a setting somewhere that I am overlooking?

Thanks

Rockbox tells the (Apple) bootloader to load the USB mode that's stored in flash.  You are free to boot into the Apple firmware manually for its faster USB mode if you prefer.

The black "Do Not Disconnect" message you are seeing is the iPod's Emergency Disk Mode. Like Chronon said, you're free to boot back into the Apple firmware to use its faster USB mode. See the manual for information on how to do so.

Feel free to mock me for this. Its not a matter of speed for transfer, I am customizing my firmware and wanted the nicer graphics when plugged in, but if it comes down to having to use the ipod in its original form than I guess I suffer with the reduced resolution.

Ah I finally found it, was looking in the wrong place.

Whatever your reason, it's your prerogative to boot into Apple's firmware for USB if you wish.  I'm not sure what you found -- instructions on how to dual boot, maybe?
