Sansa E260 freezes during playback/disk access

(1/2) > >>

Phrozenspite:
I just installed Rockbox 3.1 a couple days ago and it seemed to be working fine until last night... my sansa froze on a song so i held the power button to bring it down.  Everytime I'd boot it back up and go resume it would go to a track and then freeze.  It would also Freeze when I tried to access my Database to start a new song, and even looking at some of the Rockbox settings.  I booted it up under the normal sansa OS and it seems to run fine(the couple sansa playable tracks that I had on it work fine under the regular boot).  I reinstalled Rockbox 3.1 a few minutes ago after deleting the Rockbox directory and unfortunately when it goes to enable the database it freezes at 255 tracks found

Chronon:
I would run a disk checking utility to make sure there aren't file system errors.

Phrozenspite:
ok an update I noted that my sansa was freezing when i tried to access the main music folder... it froze in windows as well.  I just formatted the player but now I can't load Rockbox i'm getting a Permission for Disk Access is Denied error

hperry:
exact same issue just popped up on my e250.  it's been working great for months and then froze in the middle of listening to some audio 2 days ago.  ever since, the rockbox firmware locks up when i try to access the files menu and also in some other situations.  when i connect to the PC, trying to access the music dir causes the player to freeze up.

what is the best way to test the memory integrity on this thing?

Chronon:
Phrozenspite: That's unfortunate.  Did you follow the recovery procedure instructions in order to format it?

hperry: You can run chkdsk /f on it -- or fsck.vfat -a if you're on a Linux variant.  Google can lead you to more specific instructions.
