Letters size in search menu
« on: January 22, 2009, 06:39:03 AM »
Hi to all.
I am a new user of the iPod video.
I have a problem with the size of the letters in search database menu.
Is there any possible way to change the letters size in this meneu?
I can hardly see the letters.
Thanks in advance for the help.

You can change the font Rockbox uses, but not for individual screens.  If you change it in one, it will change it in all.

Therefore if you chose a bigger font, it may make the WPS you are using look odd unless you edit it to work with the new font size, or chose a pre-existing WPS that works with the new font size.

The manual covers how to change fonts and themes.

Hi,

by "search database menu", do you mean the screen where you enter text for searching in the database?
in that case i think the Problem is, that the virtual keyboard uses the tiny system font.
This can be solved by using a custom keyboard layout like described here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/LoadableKeyboardLayouts
Then the user font is used in the virtual keyboard too.

Yes that's exactly what i mean.
So i look at the link above.
Now the only thing that i have to do is jus open notepad2 ane meke a file with kbd extension an put he characters i like in there using any font i like?
Am i right?

Thanks for the answers.

Kind of.

It won't display in the fonts you use in notepad, though - notepad doesn't do fonts - ... What it will do is use the same font for the virtual keyboard as is used in the menus for the theme you use (ie, the user font).

Have you tried the opti2.kbd file from the wiki page?

Are you sure you're loading a bigger font (through a theme or other .cfg file)? The .kbd file doesn't directly determine the font size, just the layout, but it also makes it use the user defined font... It's all quite clear in the wiki link mentioned

In wiki page says:

Using KBD Files

To load a new keyboard layout, simply 'play' the kbd file from the file browser. If you want the new layout to be loaded on each boot, put it into your .rockbox folder.

That's it!

What does it means with 'play'?
Just select it and run?
Do i have to change the theme to something else in order to work?
Please forgive me for my "silly" questions but  i am very newbie to this!
Thanks again for your time and efforts to make me understand it.
