Mac reformatted 80 gig video

So my friend was trying to put some music on my 80 gig ipod video. She says she didn't do anything and when she plugged it into her mac(I use a PC) it auto reformatted my ipod. Is there anyway I can get my music and rockbox back?

saratoga:
You can reformat it as a Windows ipod on your Windows PC, and then reinstall Rockbox.  Then you can put your music back on it.

GemaRastem:
Unfortunately, all my music was on my ipod and only my ipod to save space on my computer. Is there no way to recover it?

GodEater:
No - if her Mac reformatted it - then you've lost your music.

Lesson to be learnt : Always keep a backup somewhere else.
