Start Screen Settings: Play vs. Pause
« on: January 16, 2009, 03:45:06 PM »
I'm still feeling my way around RB and have searched the manual & here on the forum, but not found an answer.

I have a Sansa e260 with RB 3.1 installed. In the Sansa OF when the player starts up it goes to the 'Now Playing' screen with the music on PAUSE.

In Rockbox, I have the Start Screen set to the 'Resume Playback' screen (essentially the same thing), but it always starts up with the music playing, not paused.

I know I can set it to start up on the File or Main menu and then switch over, once booted up to the playback screen, but is there a way to boot RB up as the OF does to the playback screen with the music 'paused' until you hit the button to resume play?

As I said, I'm still getting used to Rockbox but I couldn't find any option or setting for this. I would prefer not to have the music automatically start up on its own, but do like it to start in the playback screen. Am I missng a configurable setting somewhere, or is this not an option?

If this is not a user-selectable option, then is there a way to change a line or two of code to allow this. I'm not a programmer, but I have fixed broken themes and written one of my own. I realize the skill level is different, but I guess what I'm asking is there a way I (with the limited knowledge I have) can change it for my own use, or is this something more involved that would require the dev. team to do? And if so, what's the procedure to request this feature?

Thanks.

No, this isn't a possible starting configuration at this time.

The proper way to suggest a feature is the Feature Ideas forum.  Of course, it is just a list of ideas and there's no guarantee that someone will actually work on your idea if you post there.

Why do you want to start paused on the WPS, anyway?  It takes the same number of presses to get to the WPS and begin playback from the main menu, so I think I'm missing the rationale behind this starting point.

Also, the WPS isn't the 'main screen' in Rockbox.

Cant you just have the start up screen be the main menu and then all you have to hit play and it will start from where you turned it off last. Just like what Chronon said.
